In general, Dr. Manson likes to minimize the clutter in his already
cluttered office, and for that reason, all assignments must be submitted
in electronic
format. The only exception to this rule is in-class exams that are (for
now!) on paper and any other assignments where the instructor specifically
asks for non-electronic submission.
Naming convention
For both email subject lines and file names, please use the following naming convention. Files or emails with incomplete names will not be accepted.
<Course number>_<Last name>_<Assignment name>
e.g., Geog8292_Smith_Final_literature_review
e.g., Geog5563_Smith_Lab02
Emails
Send your submission by email to the instructor. When emailing the assignment:
- Follow the naming convention above for both the subject line and file name
- Use one of the approved formats noted below
- Submit one assignment per
email
- Do not write a message about another
aspect of the class because I may not immediately
open
an email with
an assignment attached
Files
An assignment can be submitted in a variety of ways and in
a variety of formats, but typically all of these involve a file of some
sort. Use the naming convention noted above.
Written assignments can be submitted in one of the following
formats:
- PDF (Adobe Acrobat, v.7 or higher) [Preferred]
- Microsoft Word, v.9 or higher
- RTF (Rich Text)
- Text
Presentations can be submitted in one
of the following formats:
- Microsoft Power Point (PPT, v. 4 or higher) [Preferred]
- Apple QuickTime
- PDF (Adobe Acrobat, v.6 or higher), but
only when translating from a non
Power Point format
Computer code can be submitted
in one of the following formats:
- Native code file recognized by a development
environment (e.g., *.c, *.j,
*.cs) [Preferred]
- Text file
Media
If you cannot send your file via email, deliver it by hand on CD or DVD to
the mailbox of
the course instructor
in the Department of Geography, 414 Social Sciences
